Alpacas at ANDRUS: Day 1
Amidst the oohs and aahs from an enthusiastic welcoming party of youth, staff and ANDRUS supporters, three alpacas strutted proudly for the first time at their new home. The trio is the latest addition to the nonprofit’s animal-assisted therapy program located on ANDRUS’ 107-acre campus. The alpacas join a cadre of goats, sheep, chickens and dogs that have adoring fans who benefit from petting, feeding and nurturing them throughout the year.
In way of introduction, outgoing Zingaro, dubbed “The Mayor,” is a gray six-year-old; Phoenix is a velvety black five-year-old alpaca and Amadeo (3) has dark brown fleece.
There are few greater affirmations of the work we do and the lasting impact we have than hearing success stories from ANDRUS alumni. This week I was fortunate enough to spend time with seven former Foster Hall residents who had arrived on campus as part of a basketball team for a game with their Alma matter.

HFNY Parent Addresses Westchester County Legislature
One of our Healthy Families New York parents addressed the Westchester County Legislature on February 19, 2016 at THE NEXT GENERATION: NYS Legislative Breakfast on Children & Youth, supporting the program and highlighting the positive impact it has had in her life.
A team of intrepid ANDRUS residents and staff headed down to the heart of Philadelphia in October for the annual motorcycle demo show “Clutch Control” – not as audience members but as participants and representatives of the national organization, NYPUM.
